A Bit-Rate Profile Archive for VBR-encoded MPEG2 Video Streams

Project Description

This research is aimed at building a data archive of bit-rate profiles for real-world variable-bit-rate (VBR) encoded MPEG2 videos. These bit-rate profiles are essential to researches in the area of video communications and video networking. Examples include video-on-demand, video transmission and multiplexing, wireless multimedia, disk load-balancing in video systems, transmission and retrieval scheduling, etc.

The proposed bit-rate profile archive is one-of-a-kind in the research community. With the wide applicability of the archive, we expect the archive to make substantial impact to researches in the areas of video communications and networking.
